Team Khepri, a rising force in the Fighting Game Community (FGC), is preparing for two of the most important tournaments in the competitive gaming world: Evo and Combo Breaker. These events are not only arenas where the worldโ€™s best players come together, but they also serve as platforms to represent our dedication, skill, and passion for fighting games. We have been working hard to hone our craft, and now we need your support to take the next step. Traveling to these tournaments comes with significant costs, including flights, hotel stays, and other essential expenses, and we are seeking partners who believe in our potential. As a team, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve. Competing at Evo and Combo Breaker is a crucial opportunity for us to showcase our talent on a global stage, learn from the best, and continue to evolve as players. These tournaments are more than just competitions; they are events where connections are made, reputations are solidified, and careers are launched. Your investment inย Team Khepriย will help us get there and allow us to focus entirely on what matters most โ€“ performing at our absolute best in front of the world. We believe in our team's future, and by supporting us, you are investing in more than just travel costs. You are helping build the foundation of a team that is hungry for growth and ready to make a name in the FGC. Our players are driven, focused, and fully committed to representing the competitive spirit that the FGC embodies. Each donation will allow us to make these critical tournaments accessible to all of our players, helping them showcase their skills on the grandest stage. With your support, we can make this dream a reality. Youโ€™re not just funding a tripโ€”youโ€™re backing a group of passionate gamers ready to compete and leave their mark on the global FGC community. Empowering Young Adults for a Brighter Future
Welcome to METRO, our district's premier adult transition program designed to
support exceptional students as they move from high school to real-life opportunities.
At METRO, we are committed to providing the skills, resources, and guidance
necessary for young adults with disabilities to achieve their fullest potential and live
independently.

Program Overview
METRO is tailored to meet the unique needs of students aged 18-26 who have
completed high school but require additional support to transition into adulthood. Our
program focuses on:

  • Independent Living Skills: Teaching essential life skills such as cooking,
    budgeting, and personal care.
  • Employment Training: Offering vocational training and job placement assistance
to help students find meaningful employment.
  • Community Integration: Encouraging active participation in community activities
to build social connections and foster independence.
  • Continued Education: Providing opportunities for further education and skill
    development in a supportive environment.

Our Approach
METRO employs a person-centered approach, ensuring that each student's
transition plan is customized to their individual goals and abilities. Our team of
experienced educators, job coaches, and therapists work collaboratively with
students and their families to create a comprehensive plan that promotes growth and
self-sufficiency.

This scholarship was created in 2023 by Connorโ€™s family to honor an amazing teacher & son. Connor McMahon graduated from Fraser High School in 2017. After graduating Connor put himself through college and graduated from The University of Michigan. In 2022 Connor was able to fulfill his dream and began teaching at his alma mater.ย  In his one year of teaching Connor was able to make a huge impact on his students. Connor wanted to make a difference and used his unique teaching style to inspire and encourage his students. He was full of school spirit and loved working at Fraser. If you were his student, you were forced to listen to his โ€œdad jokesโ€ and puns. You would quickly learn of his love of Marvel, Star Wars, and the University of Michigan.ย

Connorโ€™s advice to you would be โ€œNever give up. Persevere no matter the odds.โ€ Connor kept a small post it note above his desk that said โ€œitโ€™s for the kidsโ€. To quote Connor, โ€œwe have the ability, the position and the responsibility to help them with far more in real life than anything we can ever teach in front of a classroom-thatโ€™s what gets me out of bed in the morning, knowing that I am making a difference.โ€

Outside of Fraser High School, Connor was a very kind and generous person. He spent his summers as a counselor at the Roseville/Eastpointe Summer Day Camp. He loved God, his family and his friends with all his heart.ย  Connorโ€™s life was tragically taken on June 13, 2023 by an impaired driver while he was changing his tire on I94.

So, we offer to Fraser High School students the Connor David McMahon Memorial Scholarship.ย  The ideal candidate would be pursuing a degree in education.ย  They would possess a desire, like Connor, to โ€œbe greater, and make a difference.โ€

Connorโ€™s favorite quote was from Stan Lee, โ€œYou know, I guess ONE person can make a difference. โ€˜Nuff said.โ€ย

Who We Are

Founded in November of 2013 by Jeff & Mary Hocking, the COE is made up of a group of volunteers who have come together in order to better serve the homeless population of metro Detroit and surrounding areas. We have a seven member board of directors consisting of Michael Hocking, Tom Costello, Carleen Lunsford, Dan Hearsch, Lesa Ferencz and Jeff & Mary Hocking. The COE is a ZERO-OVERHEAD registered 501c3 charity where 100% of every donation goes directly towards their mission and no donation money is spent on running the charity itself. The COE owns no property and has no employees collecting a salary.

We are 100% privately funded. As Federal Funding for homeless outreach has dried up over the last few years, we are one of the only homeless outreach programs left in Detroit. In a world of non-profits that operate like corporations, the COE is a true volunteer only owned and operated charity.

What We Doย

Since 2013 the COE has been providing 200 SurvivalPaks to the homeless on the streets of metro-Detroit every single month. We pack school-style backpacks with basic supplies needed to live on the streets; warm socks, winter hats, ski gloves, scarves, compact blankets, underwear, along with hand warmers, toiletries, toilet paper, lip balm and lots of non perishable food items. We do not set up a table in a park downtown and wait for the homeless toย find us, we're pro-active and spend hours seeking the homeless out wherever they are in the city.ย

We focus our efforts outside of the 7 square miles that encompass "downtown Detroit" and instead we focus on theย  130+ square miles that make up the neighborhoods of the city and are underserved by the existing homeless charities of Detroit. Once a month on a weekend day our hand-picked delivery team spends 8 - 10 hours drivingย down alleys, searching in abandoned houses and buildings, looking through dumpsters and under freewayย overpasses, in fields, parks and wooded areas in the most desolate areas of metro Detroit.ย
